WIN THIS SUPER-CUTE DRESS!!

Oh I’ve been excited to announce this giveaway!  Not only is this shop super-cute but the owner is as sweet as she can be.  Renee over at THE JUMP OFF on Etsy kindly donated this super-cute dress for one lucky reader!  It is soft and comfortable – perfect for a romp at the park, at school, at home, during a photo shoot (wink)….anywhere!  I am often looking for cute dresses for Miss G and truth be told, wish this one was all for me.  It is so well made and best of all, made from recycled t-shirts – perfect for an EARTH DAY GIVEAWAY!

I am often approached by clients who are having trouble figuring out the perfect clothing choices for their session.  My advice is always, ALWAYS be comfortable and don’t be afraid to break the “rules” of classic black and white t-shirts and jeans.  Children look especially adorable in colors and they *feel* so much better in items that aren’t stiff, starched and uncomfortable.  My photography is all about capturing them as they are day-to-day.  Color goes a long way and makes your photos really pop.  The Jump-Off’s products are a great place to shop!

My name is Renee – shop name is The Jump Off

Please tell us a little bit about your products and craftings. How did you come to “choose” this particular art/craft? 

I started Candy Stick Lane* in 2001 b/c I wanted to continue making little girls dresses after my daughter had decided she was too old to wear ‘handmade from mom’ clothes anymore. I have always collected urban and pop culture tees because I love the graphics, and I took one of my hard rock cafe tees and made a infant onedsie type bodysuit for a friends baby – she went NUTS over it and demanded that I start selling them….so The Jump Off was born!

How did you develop your personal style and do you have any tips for developing a unique shop/look?

Everything about me reflects my eclectic, ecentric personality – I am wide open ALL the time – and so are my designs and activites. 

What inspires you? 

Magazines – All kinds of Magazine fashion, home and garden and especially arts and music publications.

What is your favorite kind of cereal? (haha)

I LOVE raisin bran…I fill the bowl to the top and pour the milk and then let it set until its mushy and yummy and then i eat it up YUMMMY! LOL!

Name one area of you business or life you struggle with….i.e. organization, time management, too many ideas and not enough time?? 😉 How do you deal with this particular part of owning your own business? 

UUUUUUUUUUUUGH! ORGANIZATION! I am the MOST disorganized person on the planet! I have tried every method and style and I just can’t maintain an organized house….so I quit trying! I create, create, create and then when I just can’t take the chaos anymore – I take a weekend and clean, clean, clean! 😉

How do you spend your days when you’re NOT creating? How do you unwind? 

I’m always creating or planning what I’m going to create. I don’t think I’ve ever had a non creative day…not since 2nd grade anyway!? Creating is how I unwind from my billing and medical records stress at work.

What is your favorite thing you’ve ever made and why? 

I had a woman send me 2 of her brothers tee’s (he had been killed in a tragic car accident) to turn into onesie type bodysuits for her son. Her story really touched my heart and I was proud to be a part of keeping his memory alive and passing it on to her son….and probably his children!
