Our deep respect for the land and its harvest is the legacy of generations of farmers who put food on our tables, preserved our landscape, and inspired us with a powerful work ethic.

100_5149_1 Russell, Colin, Benjamin and I went out to the Farm this past weekend to watch wheat harvest.  It was amazing!  Davis had about 620 acres planted in wheat and the time had come!  He worked so hard all year and with a severely injured foot;  I am so impressed and amazed at the work farmers and their families must go to to reap a bountiful harvest.  This crop got hit by hail about two weeks ago and hurt it pretty badly.  Colin and I got up into the combine and got to see the inner-workings of an amazing invention that makes it oh so much easier to harvest.  We rode in it for a while and then Russell switched with us.  We also got to see the grain loaded into the truck and then followed it off to the grain elevator.

To some people who grew up with this lifestyle, these pictures might remind them of hot, dirty, dusty, bug-y  work.  Like I was telling my mom this past weekend – I am so proud of the 10 little tomatoes on my tomato bushes and the few little peppers I grow in my garden.  How rewarding it must be to see these amber waves of grain and know that, with God's guidance, you made it grow.
