Flashback…

I was in Lubbock this past weekend, visiting family and watching the musical "Oklahoma!" at the local amphitheatre – it was so much fun!  I forgot my camera and so no pictures of the fun event – but Colin and Benjamin had a blast and I enjoyed being in a theatrical venue once again….even had a chance to catch up with some old buddies I used to kick around with in past years…

While I was there, I also stumbled upon my Scrapbook Radio Interview that I did several years ago – I had never heard it or read it and so it was neat to see it and pretty much agree with everything I said! ha!  Although things have changed a bit (I mention how I almost *always* computer journal – boy has THAT changed!!) I was pleased that I still have pretty much the same sensibilities two years later… And although I haven’t used vellum in a LONG time and do some "basics" differently – it was still fun to hear "me" two years younger….;)

On that same note, I meant to post on Friday my newest layout and the creative process surrounding it…  I’m always thinking that this blog is such a great "journal" – I wasn’t feeling particularly "creative" on Friday but also wanted to scrapbook and accomplish something…(ever feel that way??!!) so this is what I came up with…

I took the journaling right off this blog with the same picture.  I’m a FIRM believer in "making do" and played with this until it was the way I wanted it.  I originally wrote the journaling on notebook paper (see how it’s torn and sticking out from the side?) but didn’t like the way that looked so just tore off the title and the "I do" that I ended up stapling to the bottom and the wrote it directly on the pp.  I also didn’t like where I put my "signature" (I always initial and date all of my creations) and so covered that up with a strip of the same pp (see? underneath the photo?) All of these things end up being something I wouldn’t have necessarily thought of – but I end up really liking!  So I don’t think it’s an issue at ALL when I "mess up" or don’t do it "exactly right" (whatever that means! hahaha!)  Whenever I am creating, I am not attached to anything at all….I’ll gladly tear apart a layout after working for an hour on it if I’m not feeling it – if something just isn’t working.  I think that is all part of the creative process…working through those moments.

And anyway, it’s pretty easy to scrap a cute picture! čśë

ha! I tend to do a lot of cover up too. It’s great when this turns out even better than you planned. Great thoughts, B! And *such* a great page…
