Works in Pastel, Oil, and Acrylic

pastel (UK: /ˈpæstl/US: /pæˈstɛl/) is an art medium in the form of a stick, consisting of pure powdered pigment and a binder. The pigments used in pastels are the same as those used to produce all colored art media, including oil paints; the binder is of a neutral hue and low saturation. The color effect of pastels is closer to the natural dry pigments than that of any other process.[1]

Pastels have been used by artists since the Renaissance, and gained considerable popularity in the 18th century, when a number of notable artists made pastel their primary medium.

An artwork made using pastels is called a pastel (or a pastel drawing or pastel painting). Pastel used as a verb means to produce an artwork with pastels.

I am a firm believer in the ritual of creativity.  Aristotle said it best – “We are what we repeatedly do.”  I often get asked “how do you find the time?”  Our world is pressing us at every turn and we have to push back and carve out moments of peace and beauty.  When this becomes part of the normalcy of the day, it becomes easier and more fluid to create, explore, and discover.

People make me smile.  I love to connect with artists of all mediums.  I teach workshops in painting and photography, consult with artists on business, social media, and technique and work in web and logo design.  Please let me know what you need and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible!
